Performing Arts Students Shine at SE District Festival
Southeast District
MHS Choral Director Sheila Newton had the pleasure to bring seven talented students (six choral and one orchestral) to the 2011 Southeastern Massachusetts Music Educators Association Senior District Festival in Duxbury this past weekend. Selected to perform due to their musical acumen, the students had a wonderful time making music with peers from around the district.  They were fortunate to work with two wonderful conductors, Mallorie Chernin, Director of Choral Studies of Amherst College and John Eells, Director of the Farmington Valley Symphony Orchestra.

Next weekend, Mrs. Newton will be taking the MHS Select Choir to East Bridgewater High School for the Tri-County Choral Festival.  The select choir will be performing music with students from seven different towns as well as representing MHS in the showcase portion of the concert. The concert will take place Saturday, January 15th at 2:00 pm at East Bridgewater High School.  Tickets will be available at the door.

Above, the students who performed in the SE District Festival:
Back row (l to r): Christian Pederson, Johnny Fullerton, Sadie Palmer, and Harold Harrop Jr.
Front row (l to r):  Anne Claire Grammer, Nicole Lynch, and Monica Cusack
