From the Principal's Desk...
Good morning, everyone- I would like to call to your attention to an initiative that was started last spring by the Mansfield Health Advisory, a committed group of Mansfield parents, educators, and public safety employees that are striving to make our schools and community healthier and safer for all kids. The initiative is the Safe Homes Pledge, a simple contract that parents may sign, pledging that any parties/get togethers in the home will be actively chaperoned, that use/possession of alcohol or drugs by any youth will not be allowed on your property, and that you will not permit any teenager who is intoxicated (or appears to be) to drive. This simple, non-legally binding contract is devised to encourage communication among families, supporting one another in creating safe environments. For information about the Safe Homes Pledge, please click here. For an actual pledge form to be filled out, please click here. From all of the homes that have completed and mailed in the pledge, a password-protected database has been created. Second, along the same theme of student safety, I would like to invite all of you to the November meeting of the MHS Parent Advisory Council, which is tonight at 7:00 pm in the MHS Library. We will be reviewing the draft of our district bullying prevention and intervention plan. This comprehensive, mandated plan must be submitted to the state department of education by December 31. Your feedback and input are crucial. Have a great week! Cordially,
Dr. Joseph P. Maruszczak

MHS Student Service Corps Continues Fine Work Before...
Congrats to the Mansfield High School Student Service Corps (SSC), who continue their fine work with Keep Mansfield Beautiful on yet another beautifcation project, this time being the Otis Street Bridge. Six student volunteers from the SSC recently worked to paint over the graffitti on the west Mansfield bridge. Many thanks to Covidien, who donated the paint, and the Mansfield DPW, who got the students set up. ... and After |

Fall Drama Production Shines This Coming Weekend
On Friday and Saturday, December 3rd and 4th at 7:30pm the MHS Performing Arts Department will present the mystery "Rehearsal for Murder" from the teleplay by Richard Levinson and William Link adapted by D.D. Brookes. Part play-within-a-play, "Rehearsal for Murder" details the story of the female lead's murder on opening night, and her playwright fiancé's quest to find her killer. With a wink and a nod to Hamlet, the playwright gathers actors, technicians and other stagehands from the night of her death to read his latest play, which eerily connects the dots of his fiancé's murder. There are surprising revelations and humorous twists all along the way to solving this clever mystery. Tickets will be available at the door for $8 (students and senior citizens) and $10 (adults). |
