The Annual MHS Leaf Raking Project is a Big Success
leaf raking proj 2010

The annual MHS Leaf Raking Project, an organized community service event where MHS students rake and clean up the yards of elderly residents, took place this past week on Veterans' Day and Saturday, 11/13.  All totaled, over 400 students cleaned up the yards of 30 households.  Students from all sports teams and various extra-curricular activities (such as the Student Service Corps, pictured above) did the yard clean-ups.  Many thanks to the project director, MHS Nurse Donna Harrington, who worked very closely with the Mansfield Council on the Elderly, the Mansfield Police, and Keep Mansfield Beautiful, to organize all of the logistics.  MHS senior Hannah Melton also served as the project assistant director.  Great work!

Also serving in a key role were the following landscapers who donated their time and labor gratis in picking up and disposing the leaves:  Sean Flynn Landscape, Guerrini Landscape, Presentato Landscape, Simora Landscape, and Prew Landscape.  Many thanks!

holiday driveThe West Side Benevolent Circle, a Mansfield-based organization that gives clothing, toys, and other necessities and presents to underprivileged families with children for the holiday season, is now holding its annual Holiday Clothing Drive. They are collecting teen socks, underwear, and pajamas for both genders. The items must be new and things that teens today would want to wear. Collection boxes for the donations are now located in the MHS Lobby and the main office. With any questions please call Sam Carter at (617) 543-2119 or by email at xxsamiam902xx@aim.com.

MHS cheerleadersT

The MHS Cheerleading Team will be holding its annual Holiday Shopping Extravaganza on Saturday, November 27th from 9 am to 2 pm in the MHS cafeteria.  It will feature vendors from all product lines- from home party products to wellness products to craft items and bakery items and for the first time, direct buyers of gold.  Many local businesses will be participating.

In addition to offering special gift packs and show specials, most vendors are offering raffle items and the hugely popular raffle basket table will return again this year (most baskets valued at over $100).  Santa will also be stopping by for photographs from 10 am- 1 pm and there will also be a craft table for the kids!

Admission is $2 per shopper and all money raised will benefit the MHS Cheerleading Program.
