Foreign Language Honor Societies Induct 74 Students
french honor society

The 24th annual Foreign Language Honor Society Induction Ceremony at Mansfield High School was held on Thursday, November 4, 2010 in the MHS Auditorium.  Seventy-four French and Spanish students were
inducted into the Société Honoraire de Français (pictured above) sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.

These honor societies are national organizations and the criteria for selection is uniform, mandated, and of the highest caliber.  Each inductee has maintained at least a 90 average in his or her respective language for two years prior to consideration.  In addition, the inductee must have a cumulative scholastic average of 80% or above in all other subjects.

The ceremony itself featured festive songs, slideshow presentations, and testimonials from students who were part of the annual Spanish exchange program.  For more information about the ceremony, including a list of all inducted students, please visit Dr. Maruszczak's blog.

Coach Redding is NE Patriots Coach of the Week
patriots all access

MHS Head Football Coach Mike Redding - the 2003 New England Patriots High School Coach of the Year - has been named the Patriots High School Coach of the Week in recognition of his team's 8-1 record, including the key 24-15 victory on October 29 over North Attleboro High School. The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation will donate $1,000 to Mansfield High School's football program in Redding's name in recognition of his Coach of the Week selection.

Coach Redding and his captains - Jamal Marshall, Kyle McGuire, Sean Otto and Anthony Todesco (pictured above)- were guests at Gillette Stadium last Wednesday to receive the award and were featured on the team's weekly television magazine show, Patriots All Access, which airs Fridays at 7:00 pm on WBZ-TV in Boston and may also be found at Patriots.com.

"Coach Redding said the team's mantra is 'control our own destiny' and it is clear that they have taken that to heart, winning a great game against their next door rivals, North Attleboro High School." said Patriots Charitable Foundation President Andre Tippett. "Coach Redding and his Mansfield team also understand that success is about team football, and by putting this belief into action they have rolled to an impressive 8-1 record and are undefeated in their division and in their league. The Patriots are proud to present Coach Redding with this week's New England Patriots High School Coach of the Week award. We are happy to be able to reward his team and Mansfield High School with a donation to the football program and we wish them the best going forward."

Congrats to Coach Redding and the team!  Go Hornets!
