Looking for members of the Mansfield Band, Drill Team, Color Guard, Band Parents and Faculty from1950 to 1983, for a "Hornet" Band reunion to be held on the weekend of November 6, 2010. The Mansfield Holiday Inn is booked for November 6, 2010, and Peter Conti, (Mansfield High School Band Director) is working with the reunion committee to have the band alumni at the Friday November 5, 2010 home football game. The alumni that have been contacted through Facebook and Classmates.com have shown a tremendous interest in participating in this once in a lifetime event. Barbara Kuzdzol (TEL: 508 695 5791) or Jim Gallo (TEL: 941 426 6035) will gladly send you a registration form and reunion information. We are really looking forward to seeing the great students, band parents and faculty, who devoted so much time over the years to make the band program such a success. Tell your friends and please try to attend. We might even try one last march down Main Street! |
Mandatory Meeting for Fall Student-Athletes &Parents
All student athletes who plan on playing participating in the following fall sports: cheerleading, cross-country, field hockey, golf soccer, and volleyball must attend our annual fall pre-season meeting the night of Monday, June 21. A parent MUST attend with the student. If the student- athlete has a conflict, a parent must still attend, as this will be their only opportunity to meet with the fall coaches. The evening will start in the MHS Auditorium at 6:30pm. We will review the athletic handbook, with a focus on chemical health, academics, school attendance, athletic eligibility, user fees, captain's expectations, physical exams, parental permission forms, and student-athlete conduct. The Mansfield High School Athletics Department has purchased IMPACT, a concussion evaluation software. ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) is the first, most-widely used, and most scientifically-validated computerized concussion evaluation system. A sports-medicine MD will give a brief presentation on this system. The MHS All-Sports Booster Club will also give a short presentation, as they will need your ongoing support in 2010-11. After the opening in the auditorium, parents and athletes will meet with their respective fall coaches to cover expectations for the upcoming season as well as set rosters.
Please Note: The MHS Football Team football will hold their pre-season meeting in August. Due to the number of football players and their parents and space limitations, a separate eveing is necessary.

All Sports Boosters Club Gains $5,000 Grant
The Mansfield High School All Sports Boosters Club would like to thank all of the MHS parents and community members that enabled the club to earn a $5000 grant from the Responsible Sports Program from Liberty Mutual. The program aims to support volunteer coaches and parents that teach kids on and off the field. By having 285 MHS parents and coaches certified through the online program, MHS finished 5th in the country, and therefore earned the grant. (It went to the top six schools in the country.)
The grant award will be used for sports equipment and supplies not covered by the athletics budget. |
