On Friday, May 14, thirty-eight seniors completed the final step of the Senior Project Program by presenting their year-long experiences to panels of judges.  The students shared their successes and struggles as they reflected on and demonstrated what they had learned during the past year.  Some projects included learning about gluten-free diets, investigating the possibilities of placing solar panels on the roof of MHS, educating the community about AIDS by running an AIDS Walk, and creating a female golf club at the high school (as presented by Stephanie Silva, pictured above at her panel presentation).  Friday's event was truly a community event as the forty-five judges were drawn from MHS faculty, parents, and community members.  Congratulations to these students for completing this worthwhile project!  Many thanks also to social studies teachers Bill Deasy and Ben Caisse for creating and facilitating this year-long performance-based assessment.

A Reminder on Course Registrations...
deadlineJust a reminder from the Guidance Department regarding course registration.  If your child would like to be involved in any of the following programs: Project Teammate, Career Pathways, Educational Intern, Senior Project, Online Courses, Dual Enrollment or Academic Learning Center Tutor: all these programs require a student to fill out an application and return it to the director of the appropriate program. Students are selected into these programs based on the information they provide on the application. To date, many applications have been handed out but only a small number of those applications have been returned to the various program directors. The deadline for returning all applications is May 19th.
Please remind your students of this deadline, especially next year's seniors and juniors.  If your son or daughter procrastinates, they may miss out on an exciting educational learning opportunity that could hold a great deal of meaning to them.
