MHS Students Help Those Struck by Flooding
In the midst of last week's deluge of rain and flooding, over 60 MHS students (most of whom are seniors) pitched in during a time of need for many community members. Working in conjunction with the Mansfield Department of Public Works, the students filled over 700 sandbags last Tuesday afternoon over 3 hours in the torrential rain. Many of these students also worked with town officials to load these sandbags near the homes in town that were threatened by flooding. In the late afternoon, the Mansfield School Department used it mass-calling system to contact parents to solicit more volunteers, and from those efforts, another 500 sandbags were filled early into the evening. Thank you to all who contributed to this important effort! |
MHS Percussion Ensemble: New England Champions!
For the third time in three years, the Mansfield High School Percussion Ensemble is New England Champions! On Saturday April 4, 2010, the MHS Percussion Ensemble traveled to Dartmouth High School to compete in the New England Scholastic Band Associations Marching AA Class. This is the group's first year as a marching ensemble, and the students did not disappoint. After a thrilling performance, the percussion ensemble was crowned New England Champions, beating second place Barnstable High School by over a point. The students have worked very hard this year and deserved this win. The staff would also like to thank all of the supportive parent volunteers, teachers, and administrators. Without your support, our challenges would be far too great. Congratulations to the percussion ensemble for a great season and a big championship win! |
