Hearts for Hope/Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser on 2/13
hearts for hope
A call to all MHS families and communitiy members for a very worthwhile fundraiser:

On Saturday, February 13 the Karas Glass Company will present a Valentine's Day Gala to benefit the Hearts for Hope Foundation at Christina's on Rte. 1 in Foxboro from 7:00 pm to midnight.  The evening will include dinner, dancing, silent auctions, raffles, and more.  Tickets are $75 per person.

All proceeds benefit the Hearts for Hope Foundation, an organization that supports families suffering with cystic fibrosis, an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of approximately 30,000 children and adults in the US.  Specifically, this benefit will support the family of Fallon and Katherine Finegan, two fine MHS students who suffer from CF. Recently it has been extremely challenging for the family, as in the past six months both girls have had several hospitalizations with procedures to improve pulmonary function.

For more information about this worthwhile event and how you may support the family please contact Debbie Loomer at (508) 261-7530, X-3120 or via e-mail at  Debbie.Loomer@mansfieldschools.com
2010 Boston Globe Scholastic Arts Awards
scholastic art awrd winner
We're pleased to announce that number of our students have been recognized with 2010 Boston Globe
Scholastic Art Awards.  Fewer than 5% of Massachusetts high school students are chosen to
participate and only a fraction of those are chosen for awards.  It is a special honor to be counted
among the elite young visual artists in our state.

Our award-winning students are: Jessica Burley (Photography) Honorable Mention; Alex Gemme (Photography) Honorable Mention; Alexandra Hastings (Ceramics & Glass) Honorable Mention; Tahreem Karim (Photography) Gold Key; Ashley Traphagen (Sculpture) Honorable Mention; and Kathryn Wirth (Mixed Media) Honorable Mention.

Tahreem's photograph will be on display at the MA State Transportation Building at Park Square in Boston through February. Pictured above is Ashley's gryphon sculpture.

Congratulations to these outstanding student artists!
