Student Council Fundraisers Successful |
Throughout January and February, GCIT's Student Council has been working on two separate fundraisers for both the Children's Miracle Network and Spreading the Magic. Both organizations support sick and injured children through community outreach, medical research, and hope. Jezreel Konstantinos, Gabriella Knestaut, Marquis Cooper, Nicholas Costantini, Shannon Livewell, Sayda Dunlap, and Ryan Shriver, as well as countless other Student Council volunteers have been pivotal in putting together the resources and people during this very rewarding experience.
Student Council is selling icons at lunch for the Children's Miracle Network and during the month of February selling bracelets at students' lunches for Spreading the Magic. |
IT & DC Freshmen Achieve Certification |
The 9th grade Academy of Information Technology & Digital Communications students have been working very hard in their first year at GCIT. They have been learning about computer hardware basics, identifying Windows operating system functions, understanding the basics of system/utilities software and application software, discovering Internet and network basics, computer safety, and how to use email professionally.
So far the students have taken two of the three tests to earn the Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3). The first test was Computing Fundamentals, in which all 24 students passed. The second test was Living Online, in which 23 passed.
Next up, the IT & DC students will be taking their final IC3 test, Key Applications, in June. This will test their knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Those students who pass all 3 tests will become IC3 certified and have the opportunity to use that certification for college credit. |

School-Wide Musical Set to Take Stage |
Get ready to party like it's 1986...!
Come experience the era of big hair, shoulder pads, parachute pants, and leg warmers in one of the most fun musicals to ever hit Broadway as GCIT puts on the school-wide musical The Wedding Singer. The show debuts March 23 and runs through March 26 at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology. Based on the hit film starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, "The Wedding Singer" is packed with 1980s pop-culture references and songs.
In fact, producer Kimberley Palomo said The Wedding Singer takes audiences on a musical tour of 1980s music. And nothing is more fun than a Rock and Roll 80's musical, except, of course, a Rock and Roll 80's musical that takes place in New Jersey!!
The musical revolves around a wannabe rock star, Robbie (Ryan Quindlen), in 1980s New Jersey. Robbie is everyone's favorite wedding singer. He's the life and soul of the party until he gets jilted at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own, until he falls for waitress Julia (Caitlin Geisser), who is engaged to a crass Wall Street broker (Anthony Canonica). Can Robbie pull off the performance of the decade and win the girl of his dreams?
The Wedding Singer is a high energy, hilarious and colorful musical that will have you laughing and dancing in the aisles. With a score that transports you back to the 80's, this is the ultimate feel-good night out not to be missed!
Tickets are $10. For more information or to order tickets contact the box office (856) 468-1445 ext. 2104. |

No Child Left Behind | As the parent of a school-aged child, you've no doubt heard about No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and would like to understand what it meansâespecially the benefits it offers to you and your child. NCLB is a law that was passed by Congress, with strong support from both political parties. When President Bush signed NCLB into law in 2002, he called it "the cornerstone" of his administration. It is a somewhat complex law about federal support for education from kindergarten through 12th-grade (K-12).
