Using the Yes! Deck
by Karen Hough, Founder & CEO of ImprovEdge
Now that the Yes! Deck is available, we have had a lot of requests for tips and guidance on making the most of the cards. This is the first in a series of short tips on using the Yes! Deck for you, for two, and for teams.
When you open your deck, look for the "Welcome" card with all four colors on one side and the instructions, "Ways to Play," on the back.
Just like a regular deck of cards, the Yes! Deck contains four suits. Rather than diamonds, spades, clubs and hearts, our suits are the four basic principles of improvisation. What do you need for yourself or your team? The suits will guide your search:
- Yes! Space
These green cards have ideas and activities that will develop your positive capabilities in networking, negotiation and conversation.
- Building Blocks
These purple cards will give guidelines for better brainstorms, idea generation, coaching and time management.
- Team Equity
These blue cards have great games for icebreakers, as well as tips to create efficient, enjoyable group meetings.
- Oops to Eureka!
These magenta cards have exercises and ideas that will turn your perceptions around and allow your mistakes to become opportunities. Stay tuned for more quick tips to come!
The Yes! Deck retails for $24.99. Order yours by visiting ImprovEdge.com.
