tooth ache woman
July 2012

Greetings!

Unexpected dental pain can ruin anyone's day! Don't let that happen to you, your family or your friends.

This month's email provides some tips to help you make a dental emergency easier to manage.
Manage your discomfort until you can see your dental professional:
  • Gently brush, rinse and floss the area to remove any food particles that may be causing your discomfort.
  • Take as directed, Ibuprofen (Motrin) to ease pain and help with inflammation.
  • Use a COLD compress on the area. AVOID a hot compress as it may worsen an infection and cause it to get worse.
  • Apply pressure to a cut lip or tongue with a moist washcloth or moist teabag. If the bleeding doesn't stop in 10 minutes, go to Emergency room. Sometimes a cut may require a few stitches.
  • If your tooth has been knocked out, don't clean it! If available, place the tooth in a cup of milk-or saline. Call Griswold Dental immediately!
