Manage your discomfort until you can see your dental professional:
- Gently brush, rinse and floss the area to remove any food particles that may be causing your discomfort.
- Take as directed, Ibuprofen (Motrin) to ease pain and help with inflammation.
- Use a COLD compress on the area. AVOID a hot compress as it may worsen an infection and cause it to get worse.
- Apply pressure to a cut lip or tongue with a moist washcloth or moist teabag. If the bleeding doesn't stop in 10 minutes, go to Emergency room. Sometimes a cut may require a few stitches.
- If your tooth has been knocked out, don't clean it! If available, place the tooth in a cup of milk-or saline. Call Griswold Dental immediately!
