Teacher of the Month
Monique Canniere
Monique has been with SoundStage almost since the founding of the school. It is her versatility as a musician and teacher that makes her so valuable and popular. She has a Masters Degree in music performance, sings and plays multiple instruments. At Soundstage she teaches voice, strings, guitar and piano. She is familiar with many styles and genres, has acted in musicals, performed with dancers and has a lot of experience performing, improvising and playing by ear. Monique has performed or studied with John Blake, Kanye West, Diana Krall, Gunther Schuller, John Corigliano (composer of "The Red Violin.") She is currently recording an album of original songs, expected to be released 2012. She is also singer and violinist in the Divine Hand Ensemble.
Here is Monique's philosophy of teaching, " I approach each student individually, get a sense of their skill level as well as musical interests, and develop a course of study from there. I make a point of incorporating a basic fundamental technique and theory with all of my students, but then focus on the music that they want to study/sing. I try to influence them with passion and love of music, and try to have as much fun with it as possible.

What students are saying
about SoundStage
My daughter has been a student of SoundStage for several years and her confidence and skills have been greatly encouraged by their competent staff . Their laid back approach has enabled her to approach her music training in a relaxed and nurturing environment. I especially enjoy the fact that they encourage performing at whatever level you happen to be at for their frequent concerts. This has helped with her confidence in other performances and even public speaking. - Angela Bleemer
One of the best things about Sound Stage is the teachers. The right teacher is a critical part of the musical experience. We currently take lessons from 4 different teachers each week and every one is exactly what my children need! These relationships have developed their musical skills, expanded their musical interests and helped to ensure that music will always be a part of their lives! - Jackie Gress |
