Ben Gress

ben fixed again Ben began studying guitar with Mickey at the age of 5 and now visits SoundStage frequently for voice, bassoon and bass lessons.  He is now a 15 year old Freshman at Wissahickon High School. Ben hopes to use the talent and skills he developed at SoundStage for a future career as a sound engineer. Among many other instruments he plays the Double Bass and sings a few numbers in Two O'Clock Jazz Band at school.  He also plays bassoon in concert band and recently participated in the Montgomery County Band and the Pit Orchestra for a performance of The Phantom of the Opera

Have you had any special musical  accomplishments? Last year I won the band student of the year at our 8th grade graduation and in 7th grade I won a soloist award on the saxophone in jazz band and the band student of the year.

How have your music studies at SoundStage helped?  My music studies have helped me in many ways but specifically it has gotten me involved in many activities in high school.  Music has helped me focus on a potential career.

THANKS TO THE GRESS FAMILY FOR REFERRING MANY FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO SOUNDSTAGE OVER THE YEARS.

New Teacher John D'Angelo
 Drums, Beginning Piano and Guitar

John D'Angelo has been playing drums since the age of 5. At 20 years old John is quickly building a great reputation in the New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia areas as a reliable, easy to work with and great drummer. John pulls from styles such as Rock, Jazz, Funk, Latin and Blues to form his own unique drumming style. He has always felt the drive to not be "just a drummer", but a musician as well. John has been teaching drums for 5 years and tries to take his theory of being a musician and share that knowledge with his students.

 John
attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.  After leaving Berklee, John went right to work on playing with the big shots. He picked up a six week international tour as the supporting act for Meat Loaf on his "Hang Cool Teddy Bear" tour in the summer of 2010 with Universal recording artist Lisa Bouchelle. While on tour, he played to sold out crowds of 10,000 to 25,000 seat arenas and pavilions. From this, John received high level endorsements from GMS drums and Evans
drumheads.
