From the PTO Co-Presidents
We have posted the Power Point slides from Mrs. Sanders' Curriculum Night presentations on the Dunwoody Elementary website. Please go to www.dunwoodelementary.com, (under Parent Resources tab) to view these if you missed the meetings.
In an effort to help with communications, the teachers are working really hard to keep their websites updated this year. We hope you will take the time to check your teachers' websites on a weekly basis to view homework, helpful websites, and calendar information.
Additionally, to help save copier use and paper expense, we are sending TIP flyers to the youngest child in the family only, unless the information is child-specific. Please let us know if you have any issues with this new process.
We have another winning number for the MJCCA 1-year membership: #821287. If you have this ticket, please contact shariwassell@gmail.com by Friday, September 21 to claim your prize.
Carpool volunteers are still needed in the mornings. Please contact Liz Dallas (lathompsondallas@gmail.com) if you can join this wonderful team of parents from 6:50-7:45 a.m. Even one morning a month is helpful and it counts for an hour of volunteering each day you help. Ten days in a month could get you all you need to meet the requested ten hours of volunteering per semester. Thanks!
See you at the school,
Shari Wassell & Amy LeVasseur

Volleyball Clinic
Calling all 4th - 8th grade girls interested in playing volleyball!
The Dunwoody Volleyball Team is sponsoring our fall Junior Wildcat Volleyball Clinics from 6:00-7:30 on September 10, 12, 17, 19, 24 and October 1 at the Peachtree Charter Middle School Gym. Many of the girls on the Dunwoody Varsity volleyball team started playing in the Junior Wildcat program! Our sessions are designed to teach proper volleyball mechanics in a fun, safe, and learning environment. We will utilize individual and group drills and competitions to maximize reps while giving quality feedback and challenging you to improve and learn. The training environment will challenge the kids to do their best in every drill and skill because we believe that there is no substitute for hard work and a great attitude. Our training environment also provides a ton of individual attention for overall skill improvement. The sessions are led by Brent Bridger - a former GA Tech volleyball assistant coach and Dunwoody volleyball players.
To register or get more information contact Steve Goldin at (770) 330-5532 or email: sgoldin106@aol.com. The cost is $95 for the 6 sessions. |
Appeal for Media Center Volunteers
Looking for a way to get involved in school a few hours a month? Come help out in the Media Center. Our primary role is to help Ms. Gurin, the media specialist, with the re-shelving of books. Due to DeKalb County budget cuts, she no longer has an assistant this year, so our help is vital to keeping the media center running smoothly. She needs help for 1 hour each day. Typically, you will help from 11:30 AM- 12:30 PM, but we can be flexible with the time.
Please visit our Sign Up Genius site: http://www.SignUpGenius.com/go/409094EACAC29A13-daily
or contact Jill Rosen at jillrosen@hotmail.com |

We need volunteers for FALL DAY which has been changed from October to November 1st and 2nd. We are looking for people who can help at the stations for 2 hr shifts.
If anyone knows of, or is a parent that would like to participate and run a science or math related station, that would be great! The more volunteers we have the better it will be for the children to get outside and enjoy science.

All Volunteers
This year we are challenging all parents to volunteer in the school or at home a minimum of 10 hours per semester. We have 2 different ways to track your hours, so choose the one that is best for you:
1- Through our PTO website and
2- handwritten in notebooks kept in the front office.
To log your hours online, please go to the PTO website (www.dunwoodypto.com) and under "Get Involved" choose the "Log Volunteer Hours" link and input all of the requested information. Front office notebooks should be in place soon. Please only log your hours in one place or the other, no need to do both. We will have small recognition prizes for those (excluding board members) that meet the minimum. Any questions, please contact merriebouton@yahoo.com. Thank you!
