DES News
Co-Presidents Report

Here is a huge thank you to Sarah Smith and her International Committee for the International month activities that were held in March.  From the Potluck dinner to the play date and "Where in the World is Mr. Clark" challenges, Sarah did a great job organizing these events with her committee members and we thank them for their service to DES!  Also, a special thanks to Mrs. Miller and Ms. Esartia for all their hard work on all the general music concerts this year.  They were all fabulous!

We hope everyone has a great Spring Break!

See you around the school!

Mellie and Shari

School Council Update

Last month the school council approved revisions to our By-laws. The changes include the following:

  • Change the parent representative election to the spring (usually May) of each school year.
  • Require that biographical information about each candidate be posted for one week prior to the election.
  • Elect officers at the last meeting of the school year for the following year, after the parent election.
  • Add 3 more parents, 1 teacher and 2 business partners to the total number of school council members. This would increase membership from 7 to 13 members.
  • Parent terms (2 years) will be staggered, with 3 parents rolling off one year and 4 the next.

We will start the parent representative election process when we return from spring break. Start thinking about whether you would like to run or if you know someone you would like to nominate.

Nomination forms will come home in the TIP on 4/12. Any questions, please contact one of your school council representatives.
