Deercreek
Country Club
20th Anniversary

This handsome clock was placed beside the putting  green in late February, 2010.

Funds for its purchase were raised from the Deercreek Course Improvement Tournament which is held yearly. In addition bricks, which can be personalized with contributor's names, were sold and positioned around the base.

Additional bricks are available for $75.  If you would like to honor someone or simply wish to have family members' names engraved on a brick contact Mike Milkey at 363-1450.

Look for this lovely recent addition to the Deercreek community as you approach our club's circular entrance.

The Deercreek Web Site

Deercreek web site www.deercreekcc.com  has a wealth of information for all residents. Monthly social activities are listed as well as the community's newsletter. Newsletters are sent via e mail as well as being included on the web site.  If you are new to the community you can search the web site for answers to many questions.

Listed on the left side of the web site are links to the current Board of Directors and officers with contact information. Below the listing of the Board members are the standing committees, meeting dates,  committee chairs and committee members with contact information, mission statements, as well as  policy and procedures for each committee. All residents are encouraged to volunteer for a committee of their choice.

Although the covenants are part of closing documents, the covenants are included as well as the rules and regulations adopted by the Board. New residents are reminded to review this link to acquaint themselves with the rules of the community to preclude citations for infractions.

The Architectural Review Board has a very comprehensive page that includes all pertinent information for residents who plan on making any changes to their home. It includes what is allowed, what is not, what is pre approved, what must be submitted for approval as well as application fees, deposits and more. Check it out before you start or think about a project.

Further down on the left side are some of the social groups in the community as well as a link to the country club. For newcomers the country club is a separate entity within the community. Questions regarding the country club facilities and property fall under the purvey of the Club's General Manger David Shaffer. The owners association and the country club continue to have a good working relationship.

Bargain Avenue is a great venue to offer merchandise for sale. It is an inexpensive way to sell some of your extra stuff with ease.

Also included are links to various pages of local community interest.

So please take the time to visit the web site and familiarize your self with facts and information about your community.

Highlights of the February, 2010 Deercreek Country Club Owners Association BOARD MEETING

Bernard Vargas Vila, the property manger from May Management reported that due to the severe winter weather and the extensive damage to the yards in Deercreek; violation letters for brown patches will not be sent out until May. Most yard services  and spraying services are indicating that sod will need to be replaced, so do not wait until the last minute to replace the sod, if the grass has not returned.

Last Year, the board approved funds to re-dig the drainage ditch off of Chester Lake Road North adjacent to the tees on golf hole #5. This project was necessary to maintain our storm water management system for that area. The project proved to be logistically challenging in that access with heavy equipment was not available. As an option, our community landscaper "Connors Landscaping" stepped in and agreed to accomplish this task by "hand digging" the entire canal. What a fantastic job they did! Our hats are off to them for a job well done and now with constant maintenance by the adjacent homeowners and the association, we look for this improvement to help in keeping the drainage in this area moving again.

The Financial committee recommended that effective January 2011  the Board  would require the issuance of the Deercreek Community Resident Directory to be provided by electronic mail with printed versions of the directory available for purchase at a cost. The other cost saving measure recommended by the financial committee was to have all written correspondence, invoices and reports sent by electronic mail. These recommendations were referred to the Communication committee and May Management for research on legalities and consideration.

The access control liaison Doug Klippel reported that 15,637 vehicles came through the visitor's lane in January. In an effort to reduce the waiting time in the visitor lane the Board approved a new measure where selected vendors with multiple vehicles; such as yard services and pool cleaners, would have the option of purchasing restricted access bar codes for the vehicles.

There were 12 owners who attended the access control meeting to express their concerns over the  new speed bumps placed in the natural area off of Deercreek Country Club Road. They were concerned that the bumps were too high and that they caused alignment problems for their cars. The access control chairman tasked each committee member to test the bumps themselves . At the next meeting the members were to report if they felt if the bumps were out of place and to research alternatives.

The Board was encouraged by three residents who have stepped up to volunteer their time and services to the community. The Board approved Skip Yauger as Chair of the Architectural Review Board,( an extension to his current three year term ) and Buck Pittman an architect (non resident) to be a member of the ARB at no charge. The Board also approved  Dudley Mendheim as Chair of Covenant Enforcement and Jack Clancy as Vice-Chair effective May 1, 2010. The Board is still looking for volunteers for the Communication committee who meets every other month and the common property committee. Contact George Partin at 519-8729 if you are interested in volunteering for any of the committees in Deercreek.

Legal liaison Carol D'Onofrio reported on four properties that were referred for legal action. The Association has received approximately $9600  which clears another account. The Board continues to pursue legal action for all property owners in arrears in  an effort to recoup monies. On going delinquent  accounts cost the community in legal fees and property maintenance, ultimately resulting in increased yearly assessments. Homeowners who are 90 days past due ($over 1000) will have their bar code revoked.

March 4 was the 11th birthday of the Women's Alliance and we celebrated by having a 'BIRTH'day Party, featuring a baby shower for one of our charities, The First Coast Women's Center.  Our ladies came with tiny clothes and beautiful blankets, bath sets and cuddly toys, a car seat and soft books, diapers and lots of Desitin!  What a great baby shower! ....
