 | RHI News | Kailyn Dorhauer joined the RHI staff this summer as the assistant project coordinator. She has an undergraduate degree in Health and Human Performance from Montana State University Bozeman and is pursuing a Masters in Health Administration from MSU-Billings. The RHI is working to create an evidence-based template for all community programs in prevention using the guidelines from the US Preventive Services Task Force for AHRQ and the Community Guide from the CDC. We will apply these guidelines to programs profiled on the website, Incubator mini-grant applications, and technical assistance for communities. To have your program featured on the website, email us at info@montanaruralhealthinitiative.info. |

Diverse Montana Communities Deliver Lifestyle Change Program to Prevent Diabetes
Since 2008, Montana communities have been helping prevent type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease among adults at high risk through the Montana Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes Prevention Program (CVDDPP). The 10-month CVDDPP is based upon research evidence that intensive lifestyle change can prevent or delay the development of diabetes by 58% among adults at high risk.
Lifestyle coaches educate and motivate participants to develop and maintain healthier eating and physical activity habits, which lead to weight loss and control. These lifestyle coaches are registered dietitians, registered nurses, cardiac rehabilitation nurses, and exercise specialists trained to deliver the CVDDPP.
