August is bound to be a busy month at the chamber.  Last week we celebrated the 4th anniversary of 360 Food and Fuel, Zack Jabal was a very gracious host and we are so pleased to hear all the customer raves for his business. As you know, he has opened Krystals, so stop on by and visit, fill your car with fuel and while you're there, fill yourself, too!

On Saturday, August 7th, I was excited to head over to the Pediatric and Adolescent Center to visit all the booths at the Health Fair and to see such dignitaries as Texas State Representative Kirk England and our own Mayor Pro Tem, Ruthe Jackson. Representative England introduced Bill White who talked a little about what Texas could expect if he becomes our next governor. Dr Epifania Caturay and candidate Bill White donated the first books for the Reading Round Up "Summer of 100,000,000 Books" Project.  I was amazed by the support provided by the North Texas Association of Philippine Physicians.  It made me so proud to be a part of this community.

On Monday, August 9th we cut the ribbon on the new La Quinta Inn & Suites located at 2131 W. I-20.  We are so blessed to live in an area where new businesses are joining our community.

The Business Exchange Breakfast, our Leads group will meet this week at 7:45 a.m. at the chamber. This group is continuing to grow and we are generating a lot of business. If you want to grow your business and need help, this is the place to be on August, Friday the 13th this year. If the saying is true: "The harder you work, the luckier you get", join us and see how lucky you can become!

The Chamber Luncheon is August 18th and Tom Hart, our City Manager will be there to talk to us about City finances.  Grand Prairie businesses should have an interest in how the City is doing.  You need to be there.  The location is the Ruthe Jackson Center, 3113 S. Carrier Parkway.  Time: 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. The cost is $20, but if you make your reservation by Friday, August 13th, the cost is discounted by $5.00, so you pay only $15.  Call the chamber 972-264-1558 to make your reservation.

The "Taste of Grand Prairie and Community Spotlight" is September 23rd at Quik Trip Park. Booth space is filling quickly, if you haven't signed up, do so immediately. Call Sara or e-mail her at sara@grandprairiechamber.org. Make plans to join us.  Last year we had over 1500 guest.  It was crowded, but we have changed the set up and promise you that though there will be a lot of people there, you will be able to move through expeditiously.  I hear Traders Village is making HUGE Turkey Legs!  That alone is worth the trip.

Well, lots coming our way.  Be sure to call me or e-mail me lynn@grandprairiechamber.org if I can help you maximize your business investment through the chamber.
