Presidents Corner
As I believe you are aware, for more than a year, the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee and a group of regional volunteers collaborated to develop the most unique concept of a performance to introduce an NFL season in the history of the Dallas Cowboys and the National Football League. Last Saturday, the Host Committee activated public sales to the XLV Countdown Live From Cowboys Stadium Concert to be presented on Friday night, September 10, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., the weekend beginning the NFL's 2010 season, "the road to Super Bowl XLV."
The production will be the grand finale event of the Host Committee's Kick-Off Concert Series, the cornerstone of North Texas' year-long countdown to the region's first Super Bowl. The production has been designed to celebrate the Dallas Cowboys' 50th anniversary season, Emmitt Smith's 2010 induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the final build-up to what the NFL expects to be the biggest and most dramatic Super Bowl in history.
The Concert will begin with the "National Anthem" performed by America's classical music icon of the last half of the 20th century, Van Cliburn. Following Mr. Cliburn's performance, seven remarkable videos produced by NFL Films in high-definition will be shown on the 60-yard long scoreboard in Cowboys Stadium. The films will be introduced by Roger Staubach and members of the Cowboys' championship teams accompanied by a live soundtrack of NFL-commissioned music performed by the nationally acclaimed 90-piece University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra.
The first video will be a montage of the five decades of Dallas Cowboys football in North Texas. The next five videos will feature highlights of the Dallas Cowboys' five Super Bowl victories. Jerry Jones will introduce the final video which will be produced by NFL Films in August in conjunction with Emmitt Smith's induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Emmitt will speak following the video. Following the video productions, country music artist of the year, Tim McGraw, will perform with the UNT Symphony Orchestra followed by a one-hour concert with his band.
The XLV Countdown Live from Cowboys Stadium Concert will be the region's official celebration of the Cowboys 50th anniversary and the most spectacular event kicking off an NFL season in the League's history. To ensure that many North Texas families who have followed the Cowboys for decades are able to attend the event and to provide thousands of North Texas families with a glimpse of Super Bowl XLV, the Host Committee has priced the tickets for the event at family-friendly rates starting as low as $25. The Concert's net proceeds will be dedicated to supporting the Host Committee's Super Bowl XLV legacy programs, including the Committee's SLANT 45 education initiative, the creation of the region's first NFL Youth Education Town and Taste of the NFL.
As a member of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee's Council of Chambers of Commerce, the Committee is inviting the Grand Prairie Chamber to purchase block tickets to the Concert at a cost of $25 per ticket and be seated together in Cowboys Stadium for the performance. Additionally, You may also purchase blocks of tickets at the $25 price point that can be given away on behalf of your Company and city to America's men and women in uniform who have returned to North Texas from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and to children and families in the region who might not otherwise be able to attend an event of such significance. You can purchase tickets to the concert on-line via Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or on the Host Committee's website at www.northtexassuperbowl.com that will link you to the Ticketmaster webpage. For block sales, you are welcome to contact Kristen Miles at (214) 252-5107 who will be happy to assist you in this capacity. All block ticket sales must be purchased by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2010.
Although the public sale of the concert's tickets began only last Saturday morning, we have sold almost 13,000 of the 30,000 available tickets. The Host Committee is confident that the concert will be completely sold out long before September.
Get your tickets soon and don't be left out.
