President's Corner
We will spend the month of April in a number of ways: Marketing and Buying Within the Membership On April 21st, we will change up the luncheon format a bit and invite members who help market your businesses and who provide promotional items to help raise you name recognition to come and set up an exhibit so you can see what resources are available to you within the chamber membership. We hope you will come to exhibit or to learn about our great chamber members services.
Networking and Business Leads April 22, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. we will be at Carlos and Carla's at the Historical Anderson Building located at 1502 Houston Street. This is NOT the time for you to come and visit with people you see on a regular basis. This is a time for you to be a flibbertigibbet and get around meeting everyone in the room and finding out who they are and what they do. We used to call this a "Card Connection" because we wanted members to make connections they could refer business to at a later date. That's a great concept, used correctly! The Welcoming Arm of the Chamber April 29 is the Branding Irons' Breakfast. This group of business leaders are charged with being the host at all our events, with greeting new members at the luncheons and hosting them, and with making sure that we never have a newcomer sitting unattended and feeling unwelcomed. They meet once a month for breakfast. This month the place is Mountain Creek Retirement Center at 2305 Corn Valley and the time is 7:45 a.m. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND SAVE THE DATE! Personal and Professional Growth On May 27th we will begin the Tom Hart Business Series where our own City Manager, Tom Hart will start to share some of his successes and the skills and actions that line the road to success. We will learn about The World Class Journey - Eight stops to building a "World Class Business and Organization" in May . We will start at 9:00 a.m. and go to noon. Remember, these seminars are part of your member benefits and there is no additional charge for your attendance. They are also open to ALL Grand Prairie businesses at no charge, so share this with anyone you know who is in business in Grand Prairie. We can do this without charge to you because of the generous sponsorship of local businesses. Join us! I know there are some who think the chamber is a cliquish group and that we only serve a few people. I don't know how we can change that perception if you don't come and give us a chance to show you that we know that every business in Grand Prairie is a vital part of our City's success. Please help your fellow members keep the economy in our City strong. Come see for yourself because at the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce...
We Mean Business. Lynn

Chamber Member DISCOUNTED MEMBERSHIP SPECIAL OFFER
Each Chamber member in good standing is eligible to buy a CareFlite Ambulance Membership at a cost of $10 per employee. | | |
Per Jim Swartz, President and CEO of CareFlite, this is quite an offer:
"A one year family membership (usually) costs $49. The lowest public price which you can see on our website is $149 for 5 years or $30 per year. But the real value is if someone is transported. A typical ground transport is $1500 and a typical air transport is $15,000. In our experience, insurance companies on average pay about 50% leaving the balance to patient responsibility. Over the past 30 years we have transported over 500,000 patients. This year we will transport about 40,000. This is a bargain at $10 and yours would be about the 10th Chamber to offer it to their members as a special benefit. While our service covers all of North Texas, if someone is getting a helicopter transport in Grand Prairie, it is 99.5% likely to be CareFlite." Contact the Chamber Office and we will gladly send you the Caring-Heart Membership Application so that you can offer this great benefit to your employees.
