In 1958, Arlington residents united to build the 75-bed Arlington Memorial Hospital. Today, Texas Health Arlington Memorial has grown to a 416-bed full-service acute care medical center with more than 550 physicians on staff, 2,000 employees and 300 volunteers.
The hospital is a member of Texas Health Resources, one of the largest faith-based, nonprofit hospital systems in the country.
In 2008, Texas Health Arlington Memorial opened the $76 million Tom Vandergriff Surgical Tower, the largest expansion in the hospital's history. The five-story, 200,000 square foot surgical tower adds 48 new beds and 16 state-of-the-art surgical suites for inpatient and day surgery.
Texas Health Arlington Memorial's Heart Pavilion is a complete cardiac diagnostic and treatment facility equipped with innovative imaging technologies for echocardiograms, electrocardiographs, nuclear medicine, and other tests; dedicated operating rooms for advanced cardiovascular procedures; a 22-bed critical care unit; a 53-bed telemetry unit; the area's only electrophysiology laboratory; and two cardiac catheterization labs. The hospital recently attained national certification for its Cycle III Chest Pain Center, and the Gold Seal of Approval™ from the Joint Commission (TJC) for the hospital's Primary Stroke Center. Both designations demonstrate the hospital's skill in quickly diagnosing and treating heart attack and stroke patients.
To provide in-depth care specifically for heart failure patients, Texas Health Arlington Memorial opened the city's only outpatient clinic devoted entirely to providing comprehensive heart failure care. The clinic was first in the world to become an Accredited Heart Failure Clinic. Providing one-on-one, in-depth attention for heart failure patients helps keep heart failure patients as healthy as possible.
The hospital also provides a certified digital mammography facility; outpatient nutrition counseling; a cardiovascular rehabilitation unit; bariatric surgery; and physical and occupational therapy, with specialties in pediatric, orthopedic, hand therapy, and speech therapy. Texas Health Arlington Memorial offers support groups and community service programs such as CPR training, nutrition, weight management, Safe SitterŪ babysitting classes, baby and child care education, and various other support groups for the community.
