Cyber Information Security Event: On October 5, the WVOT Office of Information Security and Controls, will be sponsoring a no-charge information and cyber security awareness event at the Culture Center Theatre at the State Capitol Complex. The event will is filled with dynamic presentations delivered by world-class experts in the areas of cyber threats, effective practices to safeguard systems and data, with an emphasis on individual accountability, risk management, and privacy issues. STATE BAR REGIONAL MEETINGS - The State Bar will begin its annual set of Regional Meetings on October 4, 2011. Ten meetings will be held at various locations throughout the State. The meetings will begin at 10:30 am, include a lunch, and should end by 1:30 pm. The meetings will provide a total of 3.0 MCLE credit hours in legal ethics, office management, substance abuse and/or elimination of bias. The cost is $100 per person. The West Virginia Court of Claims, Deputy Clerk position
The Court of Claims Deputy Clerk provides legal support to the three Judges by conducting legal research and preparing legal documents such as orders, memoranda and draft opinions; case management; court calendar monitoring; becoming thoroughly familiar with the Case Management/Electronic Case Filing system; and performing other duties assigned. A law clerk will work on civil and crime victims' cases. Overnight travel to temporary courtrooms within West Virginia is also required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a Juris Doctorate degree. Strong legal research and writing skills are a must.Organizational skills, Internet research and WordPerfect skills are essential. Previous law clerk experience or private sector litigation experience is preferred.
Full-time salary range is $40,000 to $43,900.
