13th ANNUAL BAR FOUNDATION FELLOWS DINNER- Seventeen individuals will be honored as Bar Foundation Fellows during the 13th Annual Bar Foundation Fellows Dinner on Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the Marriott Hotel in Charleston. This year's Fellows are lawyers and members of the judiciary who will join less than 300 other Fellows that have been previously selected from the more than 5, 000 lawyers and judges in the state.  The black tie optional reception and dinner begins at 6:30 PM and the cost is $125 per person or $1,250 for a table of ten persons. LAWYER COMMITTEE ON ASSISTANCE AND INTERVENTION - This State Bar Committee, appointed by the Board of Governors and operating under Supreme Court rule, is comprised of 15 members from around the state who can provide confidential assistance and referrals to those who may suffer from psychological, medical or substance abuse impairments.  Bar members are reminded that all calls and referrals to the Committee are STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL.  Contact with the Committee can be made through any of its members - http://www.wvbar.org/members/standcomm.aspx - or the Committee's current chairperson, who can be reached directly at 304-231-0441.

 

WRITING COACHES NEEDED - College Summit West Virginia is seeking writing coaches for its summer workshops.  Lawyers are excellent candidates to serve as writing coaches because of the amount of writing we do and the Socratic method employed by College Summit.  The summer workshops are a one-weekend commitment (Thursday afternoon through Sunday morning).  Anyone interested may contact Jennifer Wood at jwood@collegesummit.org or simply go to www.collegesummit.org to register to volunteer online or for further information.
