MERCER COUNTY - At the invitation of the Mercer County Bar and the Judges of the 9th Judicial Circuit, State Bar President Tish Chafin and Executive Director Anita Casey will be visiting Mercer County on January 26, 2011The Mercer County Bar meeting will commence at 11:30 at the Sugar Shak in Princeton.  If you are interested in joining the Bar for lunch, please contact Randall Roahrig at rwrlawoffice@citlink.net or 304-425-2116.  After lunch, photos will be taken at the Courthouse to share on the Bar Blast and on The State Bar's website.    

STATE BAR ELECTIONS - Nominating Petitions for this year's elections have been mailed to State Bar members in Districts 6-10 for the Board of Governors and the Young Lawyers Section Executive Committee.  When signed by the requisite number of members, Nominating Petitions must be filed, not later than February 10, 2011, with the Executive Director of The West Virginia State Bar, 2006 Kanawha Boulevard, East, Charleston, WV 25311-2204, via fax 304.558.2467 or email caseya@wvbar.org.  If multiple copies of the petition are filed, they must be filed together.

HANCOCK, BROOKE AND OHIO COUNTIES - State Bar President Tish Chafin and Executive Director Anita Casey will in the Northern Panhandle visiting your Courthouses on February 22, 2011.  They invite you to join them for a short, conversational meeting.  The schedule is:

 

 

 9:00 am -  Hancock County (Judge Wilson's Courtroom)

 

11:00 am - Brooke County (Courtroom) 

 

  2:00 pm - Ohio County (Judge Recht's Fifth Floor Courtroom)

LITIGATION SEMINAR 2011 - WVCLE, sponsored by The West Virginia State Bar and the WVU College of Law, will present Litigation 2011 on February 25-26, 2011, at Canaan Valley Resort in Davis, West Virginia.  All hotel rooms will be released February 1, 2011.  This conference features experts addressing issues in Litigation.  Speakers include Mark Atkinson, Pamela Tarr, Jeffrey A. Holmstrand, Albert Sebok, Bernard Vallejos, Geoffrey C. Brown, Professor Thomas Cady, The Honorable Alan D. Moats, Andrew S. Graham, and Jeffrey D.
