MARK THE DATE - LexisNexis is offering FREE TRAINING for attorneys and staff in electronic filing and service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on December 2, 2010, in the Visiting Judge's Courtroom (Courtroom No. 5) on the 5th floor of the Kanawha County Circuit Court Judicial Annex, 111 Court Street, Charleston, WV 25301. This is an instructional class on using LexisNexis File & Serve ("LNFS") features, as well as a Q & A with Kanawha County Circuit Court personnel who will be in attendance. It is designed for any user, new to advanced. The first hour will be an electronic filing and service review. The second hour will be advanced LNFS features. MCLE credit is available. VAUGHAN, CHAIR OF THE STATE BAR GOVERNMENT LAWYERS COMMITTEE - The State Bar Government Lawyers Committee will have a special meeting at 12 noon on December 14, 2010 at the Office of Judges to discuss strategies for increasing membership to the committee and our presence within the State Bar.

6TH Judicial Circuit Vacancy - The Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission is currently receiving applications to fill the judicial vacancy on the 6th Judicial Circuit. Candidates must submit their completed applications by no later than 5:00 p.m. on December 22, 2010. Applications and instructions are available at www.governor.wv.gov. JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT TO THE COURT OF CLAIMS - The West Virginia State Bar is seeking candidates for the position of Judge of the Court of Claims. If interested, provide a resume to the State Bar on or before March 30, 2011. The Speaker and the President will make the appointment from a list of three candidates recommended by the Board of Governors of the State Bar. A minimum of ten (10) years' experience as a licensed attorney is required. This position involves hearing and deciding claims filed against state agencies and the Crime Victims Fund. The main offices of the Court are at the State Capitol with travel to other parts of the state for hearings. Some administrative law, mediation, or other judicial experience would be beneficial.
