Celebrating our 10th year of working for a cleaner Lynnhaven River.
|10th Anniversary Oyster Roast|
Saturday, April 21st
Mark your calendar now for LRNow's 10th Anniversary Oyster Roast on Saturday afternoon, April 21st. Enjoy blue grass music by More Perfect Jones, Chesapeake Ray, Lynnhaven oysters, barbeque and all the fixings, and the company
of other River supporters in a beautiful setting on the Lynnhaven River. Tickets are $50 per person ($60 at the door) and are on sale now in our office (757-962-5398) or on our website, www.LRNow.org.
Spring is here on the Lynnhaven.
The shad bush blooms around the end of March. Tradition says the bush was so named because it blooms when the shad fish begin to run upriver to spawn.

The Art of Saving a River
Art Auction at the Oyster Roast
We are looking for river-themed art work -- especially jewelry, crafts or sculpture -- for the silent auction at our Oyster Roast in April.
If you are an artist, consider donating a piece for the auction. It will be tax deductible and a wonderful way for you to support the work of Lynnhaven River NOW. All proceeds from the Art Auction will support the education and outreach programs of LRNow. For more information or to discuss your donation, contact Kris at email@example.com

New LRNow Bike Tour
Saturday, May 19th, 9 AM-2PM
Dust off your bicycle and pump up your tires and get ready for our next LRNow bicycle tour on Saturday, May 19th. We will leave from the new First Landing Visitors Center, use the great new bike lane on Shore Drive and return to the
Visitor's Center on the bike trail through First Landing State Park from the 64th Street entrance. There will be many opportunities to enjoy the flora and fauna of our watershed and views of the river. A box lunch and drinks will be provided and we will have a short talk on oyster restoration in the Lynnhaven during our lunch break. The total length of the trip will be approximately 14 miles and our pace will be casual for all levels of riders, including families. Cost of the tour is $15 and covers your lunch and drinks. To register for the bike tour, please contact our office, firstname.lastname@example.org or 757-962-5398.
A big thank you to everyone who came out to the cleanup on March 17th. We had close to 40 people out for a great St. Patrick's Day Cleanup!
Mark your calendars now for the next river cleanup on Saturday, April 28th. We will be part of the Great American Cleanup that day at locations throughout Virginia Beach!
Get Your Flag Today
The number of Pearl homes keeps growing. Since we launched the program in November, we have enrolled 390 Pearl Homes.
Do you "scoop the poop" and use reusable grocery bags? Have you reduced your lawn and planted natives? Are you an oyster gardener? Or have you installed a rain barrel? You may already qualify to be a Pearl Home.
Be the first person on your block to fly a Pearl Home flag. You can pick up an application at our office or check it out on our website, www.LRNow.org
. Thank you to everyone who is already proudly flying the Pearl Home flag!
We will be putting out information soon about a special workshop in June for our Pearl Homes.
