Wetlands 101
A Course for Teachers

Saturday, Dec. 3, 8:30-4:00 PM & Sunday, Dec. 4, Noon-4 PM. wetland

Learn about the functions and importance of our dynamic wetlands and learn how to bring the excitement of learning about our environment into your classroom. 
This course is appropriate for elementary and middle school teachers and each teacher will receive a copy of the acclaimed WOW! The Wonders of Wetlands curriculum shocked full of activities that you can take back to your classroom. 
Cost: $20 -- includes all materials
Location: New Trail Center at First Landing State Park
Participation in both days is required.

Virginia Beach Sustainability Plan

Public Meetings

The Virginia Beach Environment and Sustainability Office will be hosting a series of public input meetings on the new Virginia Beach Sustainability Plan.  These meetings will give a more complete overview of the process for developing the Plan, discuss what the City already has in place or underway as it relates to its policies, plans and vision, and then provide participants an opportunity to provide their suggestions on specific ideas or topics that they believe should be considered as the Plan is devleoped.  Meetings are free and no registration is required.  Three more opportunities are planned:

Monday, November 21, 7-9 PM at Virginia Beach Middle School, 600 25th Street

Monday, November 28, 7-9 PM at Green Run High School, 1700 Dahlia Drive

Thursday, December 1, 7-9 PM at Creeds Elementary, 920 Princess Anne Road

 

If you are unable to attend either meeting, there is an opportunity to share your comments on the City's web site at www.vbgov.com/sustainplan.
