Exciting Fall LRNow Events Mark your Calendars Now
Lynnhaven River NOW has many exciting events planned for the fall that you will not want to miss. Mark your calendars now for a fun and educational fall.
On September 10th, we will be at the Virginia Beach Master Gardeners Fall Gardening Festival at the Agriculture Research Center on Diamond Springs Road and on September 17th, we will be celebrating our book, The Lynnhaven, Restoring a Legend, at Books in the Park at Town Point Park in Norfolk.
On Wednesday, October 5th, we will be hosting our 3rd annual Candidates' Forum. This year, our co-sponsors are the Virginia Beach Council of Garden Clubs, the Princess Anne Garden Club and Cape Henry Collegiate School. The Forum will help us be prepared for the election of our State Delegates and Senators in November. Plan to come and find out where our representatives stand on the important environmental questions that will be coming in this year's legislative session.
Do you love the beautiful paintings and photographs in The Lynnhaven, Restoring a Legend? If you do, you will not want to miss our Lynnhaven River Art Show. It is being hosted by Runnymede Corporation in the Towne Pavilion Center II, 600 22nd Street. The opening reception for the Art Show is Thursday, October 6th, 5-7 PM. Copies of the book will be for sale and many of the artists and authors will be available to autograph your book. Get a jump on holiday shopping with this wonderful gift. The Art Show will be available for viewing October 6 through the end of December, 20ll.
Any runners out there? Enjoy a 6K race and benefit Lynnhaven River NOW. The 2nd Annual Sunset 6 Race in Kings Grant is being planned for October 22nd. Registration information will be available soon.
Rounding out the fall is the biggest event of all, our first Fall Festival on November 5th, 11 AM - 5 PM. This family friendly event is free and open to the public and promises to be a fun filled day. There will be a Native Plant Sale and much, much more. Enjoy good local food, lots of activities for children and families and information on LRNow's programs and how you can get involved. We will be building rain barrels, learning about rain gardens and oyster gardening, auctioning beautifully painted rain barrels, autographing copies of our book and learning to Scoop the Poop. It will be an activity-packed day that you do not want to miss. That's November 5th at Virginia Beach Middle School, 600 25th Street.
