Sunset Six 6K Race to Benefit LRNow's Education Programs
October 23, 5 PM, Little Neck


Ready, set, mark your calendars.  The "Sunset Six" is Hampton Roads first 6K night run.  Beginning and ending at the Little Neck Swim & Racquet Club, this competitive race, managed by Tidewater Striders, will benefit Lynnhaven River NOW's education programs.  The 6K race course will take runners on a journey through the Middle Plantation neighborhood on the banks of the Lynnhaven River.  The registration fee is $35 and entitles the participant to entry in the race, an event t-shirt, the chance to win door prizes, two free beers at the Race Social afterwards, and the satisfaction of knowing that you are benefiting our education programs. There is space for 350 registered runners.   Register today at

Community Events

National Aquarium Restoration Event, November 3-6
Come out and help restore the dunes at Little Creek and Dam Neck.  Dune plantings will take at Little Creek on Nov. 3 & 4 and at Dam Neck on Nov. 5 & 6.  Volunteers will help plant native dune grasses to restore habitat for local wildlife and protect the shoreline.  For more information or to register go to National Aquarium website, www.aqua.org/conservationevents.

City Council Candidates Forum

In November, we will be electing six members of our 11 member City Council.  On October 25th, Lynnhaven River NOW and the Shore Drive Community Coalition are co-sponsoring a Candidates' Forum at Cape Henry Collegiate School's Dreyfus Auditorium from 7:00-9:00 PM.  Joel Rubin will be our emcee and a panel will address questions to the candidates.  You will have an opportunity to submit questions in advance. 
 
If you have a question that you would like to hear our City Council candidates address, please send it to
