Received by the LynnhavenRiver Oyster Restoration Team
 
The Lynnhaven River Oyster Restoration Team, which includes LynnhavenRiverNOW, the City of Virginia Beach, the Army Corps of Engineers, Virginia Marine Resources Commission and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, has been selected to receive a 2009 Coastal America Partnership Award for outstanding efforts to restore and protect the coastal environment.  The award recognizes the team's innovative efforts to restore the native oyster population in the LynnhavenRiver and our contributions to the objectives of Coastal America.  It is nice to be recognized as an inspiration to others.

Tour the New Renaissance Academy and Be the First to Hear our 2009 State of the River Report 
LRNow Public Meeting, Dec. 3, 7:00-9:00 PM
Be one of the first to hear results of the Lynnhaven River 2009 State of the River Report and tour the new innovative Renaissance Academy building.  Our December Public Meeting will be held in the Schola of the newest public school on Witchduck Road.  Park in the lot on Cleveland Street and use the front entrance. 

This building will surprise you with all of the innovations that make it the most sustainable school in our region---green roof, cistern, gray water system, solar panels.  Get the first look at the 2009 State of the River Report and a pre-opening tour of this amazing new building.  Pre-registration is not required; all are welcome.

Bring Us Your Oyster Shells
Public Bins 
Don't forget to bring us your oyster shell.  We have a new location for the public bin in the Bayfront area.  It is now at the east end of the parking lot at the Lynnhaven Boat Ramp.  There is also a public bin in the parking lot of the Aquarium.
  
Oyster Roasts 
Please make arrangements with us to pick up the shells from your organization or neighborhood oyster roast.  Call ahead and we will provide baskets and pick up your shells after the event.  Contact our office at 757-962-5398 or [email protected]
Lynnhaven Oysters for the Holidays
At Old Beach Farmers Market
The Nor'easter has caused a temporary closure of all oyster grounds in Hampton Roads.  Because of this, the Lynnhaven Oyster Company will not be able to offer Lynnhaven Oysters at the Old Beach Farmers Market this Saturday. 
However, you will be  able to get Lynnhaven Oysters at the December 12th market.  And other local goodies will be available this Saturday for your holiday dinner. 
The two speical holiday markets at the Old Beach Farmers Market, 19th & Cypress Streets.

 Keep fat out of the kitchen drain and help to keep our sewer pipes flowing this Thanksgiving.  It is good for the River!
