Greetings!

We love the month of June in Hillsdale. Our gardens look their best, the Farmers Market appears, the paths through the Roe Jan Park's alfalfa fields are mowed, and things really start to heat up around here.

Nothing kicks off summer like a great Memorial Day Weekend. A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who made Hillsdale the place to be with its gigantic flea market, picture-perfect garden parties, thrilling concert, and Memorial Day Parade. As usual, there were lots of lone rangers out there quietly sprucing up things but a special thank you to the Hillsdale Fire Department, Hillsdale Gardeners, and all the folks on the Hamlet and Roe Jan Park committees who continue to make good things happen.

As Margaret Mead wrote: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

More than $20,000 was raised to support Hillsdale's kids and parks last month, including a net of some $12,000 from the Flowers to Power the Parks fundraising smash. These funds, along with more outlined below, go a long way toward new playground equipment, landscaping and more. It goes to show what a hard-working group of citizens can accomplish. Not to mention generous contributions, large and small.

Happy Summer, Hillsdalers.

The Hillsdale Town Board: Art Baer, Peter Cipkowski, Augie Sena, Jill Sims-Elster and Steve Tiger
