Greetings!
Tomorrow night is the Opening Reception for the Portrait Society of Atlanta Spring 2010 Juried Exhibition. I hope you can join me from 6 - 9 PM at the Gallery at Paper Mill Village in Marietta (see below for details).
It's been a very busy spring at Jenny Lyon Studios. Two of my portraits have won awards in current exhibitions around Atlanta. I have been honored to appear in the local papers, and I've been thrilled to stay involved in the community and education through charity auctions and fundraisers. I've also completed several paintings and have several more under way. As you head into summer vacation, remember now is the time to commission a portrait or painting for Christmas.
Happy Spring!
And as always, I welcome your feedback about the newsletter. Your feedback is critical to my success.

Jenny Featured in Local Papers
Jenny with Portrait of Anabela, photo by Thunh D. Nguyen | Jenny appeared on the March 27 cover of the Marietta Daily Journal with her portrait of Anabela, which received Honorable Mention in the Atlanta Fine Arts League Members' Exhibition. Reporter Marcus Howard and photographer Thinh D. Nguyen reviewed the exhibition, profiled the Atlanta Fine Arts League, and interviewed Jenny, who grew up in Marietta and taught locally at Walton High School through Cobb County Public Schools.
The exhibition features Realist landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and figures. The Atlanta Fine Arts League was created in the fall of 2005 by a group of Atlanta area artists to provide professional visual artists, working in representational genres, opportunities for exhibitions, art and business education through workshops, critique sessions, and discussion groups and to offer opportunities for community service through their art. The article and photograph also ran in the Cobb Neighbor on April 1.

New Work
Luisa, oil on linen, 31" x 23" | Luisa first sat for her portrait at age two. Her feet were so adorable, her mother and I expanded a three quarter length portrait to a full length in order to include her precious wiggling toes.
Lily, oil on linen, 28" x 22" | This portrait of Lily is the second painting in a diptych of two sisters (see Anna below). While creating a unified set, I tried to capture the distinct personality of each sister in her unique hands and smile. - Jenny |
