Water Conservation In Park City Park City has a semi-arid climate and the available water supply varies from year to year. Even though Utah had a stellar snow year, using water wisely helps protect us from water shortages in coming dry years. As the second driest state in the nation, Utah is especially vulnerable to drought and water awareness is vital. Here are some water-saving tips: -Conserve in the kitchen: let your pots and pans soak instead of running water while you clean them. Only run your dishwasher when full and choose the no-air dry cycle. If you run it late at night, dishes will be dry by morning. -Save Water Outdoors: apply as little fertilizer to your lawn as possible (increases water consumption and thus more mowing for you) and use iron-based fertilizers to green up your lawn instead. -Conserve in Your Landscape: add more days between watering by allowing your lawn to dry out between watering. Allows you to water deeper and less often. Or, consider xeriscaping your yard! -Save Water Indoors: Wash only full loads in washing machine or adjust the water level to reflect the size of the load. Only use bio-degradable detergent to reduce harmful chemicals you deposit in water supply. -Conserve in Bathroom: install ultra-low flush toilets or place a plastic bottle filled with water or sand in your tank to reduce amount of water in each flush. Install low-flow shower heads.
Thank you for continuing to spread the word about Jane's List - you'll be helping others by letting them know how useful the site is, all the while helping by increasing the readership. We currently are funding this newsletter out of our own pockets, so please pass the word on to any potential sponsors. We definitely want to keep Jane's List free for our subscribers, so those sponsorships are key! We appreciate you sending it on to your new neighbors, friends, colleagues, etc. Thank you!
Editorial Policy: Jane's List items are selected by our editors based upon information you have sent us as well as 'field experience' conducted by our editors. We want to keep the legitimacy, integrity and fun of Jane's List intact so we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest toy we told you about. And we ask the same in return: all submissions about a product or business to Jane's List should follow the same guideline (that you not affiliated with the business). We want you to send us your information to include in our daily lists: available nanny/babysitter (or need for a babysitter/nanny), a fun place/event to take your children for fun (especially if free), a great place for mom's night out, fun crafts to do with your kids, that awesome new exercise class you have taken, your garage sale, items you wish to sell, great recipe, funny video, sentimental poem, great gift ideas, important safety information, etc. We also LOVE to receive announcements (birth, press coverage of a local mom or business, etc) and will always be happy to post them. You can submit your requests to us at kristy@parkcityjane.com ATTN: Jane's List Item. Please make sure that you give us plenty of advance notice (we require a week in advance to guarantee posting your information).
Note regarding products featured in our list: all of the products written about in Jane's List have been 'test-driven' by our editors, subscribers or friends and family who have NO affiliation with the product editorialized. If you have a product/book/restaurant, etc you would like our editors to consider writing about, please let us know. We are always happy to have you send us something for one of our reporters to 'field test' for review for potential inclusion in one of our letters.
Sponsorships (i.e. Advertising on Jane's List): All businesses wishing to advertise themselves to our readers need to purchase a sponsorship in order to be in Jane's List (this includes private schools, daycares, camps, etc). This is for a variety of reasons: keeps our newsletter fun by keeping it from becoming one big advertisement (which is not fair to our subscribers), that our sponsorships are clearly promoted and highly visible but also clearly marked and, most importantly, it is how we fund our newsletter and keep it free to our subscribers. We only run one sponsorship a day at the top of each daily newsletter. If you want to promote your business, program, class, etc and are interested in becoming a daily sponsor, please send an email to leslie@parkcityjane.com ATTN: Sponsorship. We really appreciate your sponsorship support!
You Spoke And We Listened: We will be coming out with special editions to serve local schools, daycares and camps based upon YOUR requests. These issues will be only one time per year (i.e. the 'Camp' issue will come out in May, the 'Daycare' issue in August and 'Preschool' issue TBA--we could use your input on this one). If this is something you would like to be included in, please shoot us an email labeled ATTN: Special Edition and we will send you more details as they become available.
And no, we would never sell or subscriber list: that would be lame.
