Greetings! PARK CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOL CLOSURE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
Dr. Ray Timothy, the Superintendent of Schools of the Park City School District, after consultation with the Park City Board of Education and health professionals throughout the state, has closed, effective immediately, all eight schools in the Park City School District. This action was taken as a proactive and precautionary measure after the identification of three students possibly infected with the Swine Flu. Confirmation of the virus is pending CDC laboratory testing.
All Park City School District facilities including the District Office will remain closed at least through Monday, May 4. All school-related activities for this period are canceled. School Administrators are expected to be at their building to make sure no students are dropped off and left. Staff should not report to work.
Updates and additional information will be posted to this Park City School District website as they become available.
Swine Flu Information
The recent Swine Flu outbreak seems to have originated in Mexico. It is possible that with the number of families from this area having recently visited Mexico that Park City School District may be at a greater than normal risk for contracting this illness.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend that everyone take the following steps:
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way. Try to avoid close contact with sick people. The symptoms of swine flu in people are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu.
If you get sick, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
Watch this website for more information relating specifically to this District. Visit the CDC website for more information about the Swine Flu: www.cdc.gov/swineflu

Cool Baby Carrier Caring for multiple kids can make outings extremely difficult--enter Kokopax. Kokopax is an amazing modern take on the traditional backpack baby carrier--the beauty of this product is that not only can you get your baby or toddler on and off your back without assistance, you can also set your child down on something other than the ground. Sort of like a baby carrier and a mini-bouncy seat all in one. Having tried it out, it's just as handy as the classic ones but unlike bulky back carriers I've seen at REI and other outdoor shops, Kokopax carriers are lighter weight and far comfier for both you and the baby. And wayyyyyy better looking--let's not underestimate the importance of that! And, you can get 10% off with the code cmpck2009. To check them out, go to www.kokopax.com for more details.
