Urge California Representatives to Join U.S. Congressional Lupus Caucus
As we told you in last week's e-newsletter, a bipartisan group of members of the U.S. House of Representatives came together to launch the Congressional Lupus Caucus.
The caucus is aimed at ensuring that all Members of Congress are armed with the understanding of the impact of lupus on individuals and their families, and actively support the advancement of lupus research and increased awareness of lupus among the public and health professionals.
Along with the attention drawn to lupus through the "Could I Have Lupus" campaign launched in 2009 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Women's Health and the Ad Council, this development in Congress certainly turns the national spotlight on the needs of the lupus community.
Right now, we need your help to make sure this momentum grows. Please ask your California Member of Congress to join the Congressional Lupus Caucus. (As of this writing, there is not a single California representative who is a member of this new caucus). Simply go to House.gov and enter your zip code to find your Member of Congress.
We have provided a sample statement, email or letter that you can use when contacting your Congress representative.
