"An Astounding Christmas Surprise"
For Jo Dewhirst, taking the many medications and following up with regular doctors' appointments were second nature to her since she was first diagnosed with lupus in 1975, as well as Rheumatoid Arthritis in 1992.
As founder and subsequently executive director for LFNC until her retirement in 2009, she was a staunch advocate on behalf of patients and their families who were "desperately seeking accurate information and hope" in the face of a devastating yet little-known illness.
Jo also knew that based on studies, prolonged remission from lupus is rare. She therefore got the surprise of her life when she received this news from her Rheumatologist just before last Christmas.

LFNC thanks the many individuals who responded to our year-end appeal to raise funds towards our 2012 Fund Campaign. As of December 31, 2011, we have reached 47% of our goal. It is not too late to help us reach our goal of $68,000 by June 30, 2012.
