LIVING WITH LUPUS: Through the Eyes of a Loved One

robmayedaHis name is Rob Mayeda. He is a familiar face on local network television, talking about the eye of the storm, the heat wave or the tire chain advisories in the Sierras.

Through his eyes, we are able to see how it is like to live with lupus, not as a patient, but as a loved one of someone who is diagnosed with this autoimmune disorder -his wife Sarah.

Both Rob and Sarah are former board members of LFNC.

Rob shares his personal account on his blog with his post about "Living With Lupus: Not Just Another Birthday."

Venus Williams Pulls Out of U.S. Open

The tennis sensation abruptly pulled out of last week's U.S. Open, announcing that she has been diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome.  An autoimmune disorder not totally unfamiliar with lupus patients, Sjogren's is a condition in which a person's white blood cells attack moisture-producing glands, causing dry mouth and throat.  It can also cause fatigue and musculoskeletal pain and inflammation. See statement from Lupus
Research Institute on this development.

Seeking Male Lupus Patients for Video Interview

As part of our educational campaign on lupus, we are looking for volunteer male lupus patients who are willing to be interviewed about their experiences with the disease.  Video will be posted on the LFNC YouTube Video Channel, along with other interviews we've done so far. If interested, please contact Rene Astudillo.
