BENLYSTA APPROVED FOR USE IN CANADA
Benlysta, a lupus drug approved earlier this year by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, has been approved by Health Canada, FDA's counterpart in the North American country. This infusion drug is the first FDA-approved lupus treatment in more than 50 years.
Since its approval in March of this year, Benlysta has been made available to many lupus patients in the U.S., including some LFNC clients and members.
The drug also recently received a positive opinion
from the European Medicines Agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) and may soon be approved for use throughout the European Union (EU).
