Recent Customer Feedback
"We have been having our best response level on advertising from BAEN lately, so I do read your emails! Thank you." Holly Lopes, Cheval Insurance Services, Inc.
"I really want to thank you for running BAEN---one of my horses sold to a fantastic home, and it looks like the same thing is about to happen for the second. I advertised in a couple of places, but the overwhelming number of contacts came from BAEN as did both sales." S. Kahler
"I wanted to personally thank you for your listings on suspected scammers. I have been looking for a trailer, googgled an advertiser's email address, and found it on your site listed as a recent scammer. I emailed him/her a link to your web page and surprisingly I haven't gotten any more emails concerning the sale of this trailer." M. Kasting

Q: A horse has been sent to me to be sold. The owner had the horse in training and sponsored a trainer, Mr. X, on the horse for the last few years. The owner paid for all of the expenses and is the owner of some photographs that were taken of Mr. X riding the owner's horse as well as some videos of Mr. X riding the owner's horse. We just posted the ad, and we used a photo and a video of Mr. X riding the horse because they were videos from horse shows, and we wanted to show that the horse has been shown. I assumed that the owner had cleared all of this with Mr. X, but I assumed wrong. I just got an email from Mr. X asking for a commission on the sale of the horse or that we remove the photo and video in question immediately. What are the legal rights of Mr. X and the owner? Rescue Kicks Off Photo Contest To Raise Funds for Neurological Unit
Recently, Spirit of Equus Rescue has been asked to take in or assist in placing a number of horses with neurological dysfunction due to EPM and EHV-1. To help raise funds to create a separate neuro unit, a photo contest is being held from September 1 to Oct 1 , 2011. Entrants are asked to submit a photo that "exemplifies the spirit of the horse." First, second and third place prizes will be awarded. In addition, there is a special entry for "Rescue Horses." The winner in this category will receive a donation to the 501(c)3 rescue organization that legally owns the horse in the photo. "We need 800 entries to meet our goal and we can use everyone's support in spreading the word," says Jan Meyer, Director. Spirit of Equus also needs sponsors for each of the prizes. Individuals or companies who wish to help are welcome to donate directly to the "Neuro Fund." Click here for details on how to enter a photo, sponsor or donate.

Travel Tips for a Northern California Riding Vacation
By Patti Schofler
Northern California horse people know the secret of travel in our region: The best months to be outdoors are September and October when the air is a little crisper, but not cold, rain hasn't started yet, the coastal fog has disappeared, and summer crowds have thinned out. One of NorCal's dreamiest places to ride is Mendocino County over working cattle ranchlands and redwoods, exploring ocean beaches and mountains. Read the full article.
