Best
wishes for a fulfilling Memorial Day weekend. All of us at BAEN say thank
you to the men and women who have honored America with their military service.
We're finally
getting some sunny weather, just in time for a long weekend and an extra day to
ride. This issue focuses on horse trailers - how to pick the right trailer,
selecting the right tow vehicle, and the very important safety checklist and
annual service. Be sure to stop by Rigs & Digs at next month's Horse Expo in
Sacramento to check out the biggest horse trailer sales display in the US.
Speaking of Horse Expo, I had fun earlier this week interviewing Miki Cohen,
Horse Expo's president and founder -

Issue's Featured Member
Long-time BAEN
member Miki Cohen,
President and Founder of Horse Expo, was born in Sacramento and has lived around
that area all her life. While she has been deeply exposed to all riding
disciplines, her primary focus from age 15 through 35 was Endurance. In fact
it's her association with the endurance community that inspired her to create
Horse Expo. Says Miki, "I came to believe that endurance riders are the most
educated horsemen out there when it comes to soundness, conformation, and health
issues, and I wanted to educate more than just endurance people. We all have the
same thing in common - whether we wear a baseball cap, a velvet helmet, or a
cowboy hat, we all have to have sound, fit, healthy and safe horses!"

Horse Lovers' 2 Minute How To Video TM
How To Tell if Your Saddle Causes You Pain
Poor
saddle fit can not only cause the horse pain, but it can cause pain for the
rider too. An improperly fitted saddle can cause hip, back, and neck pain for
the rider as well as creating position issues such as shoulders, hips and heels
out of alignment. Did you know most saddles are designed for male riders?
Do you feel like you fight the saddle when you ride? In this video Jochen
Schleese, Certified Master Saddle Fitter and founder of
Schleese Saddlery,
shows you what to look for when assessing saddle fit for both men and women.

National
Trail Ride to Help Horses: On June 13, equestrians across the country will saddle up to participate
in a national network of trail rides with the goal of raising awareness - and
funds - for rescued horses. The ride is the result of collaboration between the
American Competitive Trail Ride Association (ACTHA) and The HSUS Equine
Protection Department. All of the funds raised will go towards programs to
assist at-risk horses. Please consider
participating in a ride or tell a friend about it. Let's make this event a
success!
