Spring is here!
...which means pesky, irritating flies are not far behind. Now's an
excellent time to get a head start on
your fly management program.
BAEN is pleased to welcome two CA-based companies, one in San Jose and one in
Redding, specializing in green, pesticide-free fly control solutions. Look for
their ads in this newsletter and in BAEN's business directory.
For those of you who keep horses on 5 acres or less (that's over 18% of of horse
property owners on BAEN according to our recent survey), check out our latest
2-Minute How-To video "How To Keep Horses On Small Acreage". Join Bonnie
Davis as she walks you through her horse's recent surgery at Pioneer Equine
Hospital in Oakdale (caution, some of the photos are graphic). As someone who qualifies as a "senior rider" (age 56) the
tongue-in-cheek "Riding Rules For Old Horsewomen" made me laugh - hope you do too!
And no, that's not my photo ;-) If you're curious about what I look

PIONEER EQUINE HOSPITAL
Story by Bonnie Davis, photos by Charlie Wambeke

"When my quarter gelding Nic was diagnosed with a
Sarcoid - a tumor - on the inside of the right hind leg, the first thought that

take Nic had to be the Pioneer Equine Hospital in Oakdale!" Follow
along with Bonnie on her experiences at Pioneer. Caution - some of the photos in
this article depict surgery on and are graphic.

Share these humorous "riding
rules" for us older riders:
1. We DO NOT need
to show up with our hair combed, make up on and wearing a clean shirt.
2. Moaning, groaning and complaining about aching muscles is perfectly
acceptable, as is taking Motrin (or something stronger) prior to a ride....Click here
