2011 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS LUNCHEON
Román D. Hernández, Shareholder, Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt will be the keynote speaker at the 2011 Scholarship Awards Luncheon in May.

Mr. Hernández has devoted a significant amount of time to civic and community involvement. Mr. Hernández is the Immediate Past President of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), a bar association that represents the interests of 100,000 Hispanic attorneys, judges, law students and paralegals throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Currently, Mr. Hernández is Chairman of the Board of Directors of The HNBA Legal Education Fund, the HNBA's only charitable foundation. He is a past President of the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber.
In 2010, Mr. Hernández joined the board of directors of The Oregon Community Foundation, which has assets in excess of $1 billion and is the sixth largest community foundation in the nation.
In 2009 and 2010, Latino Leaders magazine identified Mr. Hernández as one of the country's "101 Most Influential Hispanic Leaders" and featured him in its publication. Additionally, Hispanic Business magazine selected him as one of its "Hispanic Business 100 Influentials" in 2009, a distinction which identifies him as being among the country's top business leaders. In 2010, the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber awarded him with an "Outstanding Member Award" in appreciation of his continued leadership in working to advance the Hispanic community in Oregon. The Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber is proud to announce the 2011 Scholarship award winners! A total of $127,850 will be awarded to 45 students on May 3, 2011 at the Annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon at the Oregon Convention Center. All award recipients have excellent academic achievements and substantial community involvement.

The Hispanic Chamber is now accepting applications for its 6th Annual Latino Leadership Development Program.

Each year, a class of approximately 20 individuals, participate in a 12 month Hispanic Chamber Latino Leadership Class. The program enhances the leadership and management skills of Latino leaders to position them to continue their advancement in their employment while also promoting community leadership through volunteerism on public boards and commissions.
Qualifications and the Selection Process:
Any Latino who supports the mission of the Hispanic Chamber can apply. Past scholarship recipients of the Hispanic Chamber Scholarships are encouraged to apply. Participants must complete a formal program application and all attachments. Participants are selected on their own merits. The Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber (Hispanic Chamber) governs the Latino Leadership Program.
