Michael Reese, Chief of Portland Police, will address members at the Hispanic Chamber Membership luncheon in February.

Michael Reese was sworn in as Chief of Police for the Portland Police Bureau on May 12, 2010.

Michael Reese began his law enforcement career as a Multnomah County Deputy Sheriff where he served on the acclaimed Safety Action Teams in Columbia Villa, Rockwood and David Douglas.  He transferred to the Portland Police Bureau in 1994 as an officer when mid-Multnomah County was annexed to the City of Portland.

Throughout his tenure at the Portland Police Bureau, Chief Reese worked in a wide variety of leadership assignments within the Bureau, including the Tactical Operations Division, Transit Police Division, North Precinct, and the Youth Gun Anti-Violence Task Force.  He also served as the Captain of the Drugs and Vice Division where he oversaw successful investigations that culminated in the arrest and conviction of numerous members of illegal drug organizations.

Chief Reese has a long history in social service, including coaching youth sports and shelter and housing services for homeless people living in Portland.  He is committed to a leadership style of collaboration and building trust with the community the Police Bureau serves.
