CARVE A PUMPKIN... UNDERWATER!
When: This Saturday, briefing at 8:AM, divers must be back on shore by 9:AM Where: Keawakapu Beach, where South Kihei Road ends. BYOP: Bring your own pre-cleaned pumpkin AND your carving implements (or stop in and purchase a dive knife, ha ha!). What to expect: Get to the beach early to find parking and get your gear set up. We will brief at 8:AM on the beach and then send you in to do your carving. All divers must be back on shore no later than 9:AM. Once back on shore, you can put any finishing touches on your creation and enter it in the category you have chosen to compete in.
Carving Categories: Scarrrrrriest, Cutest, Dive Related/Sea LIfe, Car, Flower, Seasonal Character (Easter bunny, Santa, etc.), Food Item. (Thanks to all our Facebook friends for the new category suggestions this year!)
RULES: All carving must happen under water. Contestants may not win in a category they've previously won. Normal safe diving practices apply, certified divers only. VOTING will begin at 9:AM and winners will be announced as soon as the votes are tallied. The pumpkin with the MOST votes wins "Best of Show" regardless of category.. Cost: This event is still FREE, but you do need to provide your own dive equipment, pumpkin, and carving implements. How to sign up: Bring this completed form to the shop to participate. This event is for certified divers only. Tips: You might want to pick up your tanks Friday afternoon as the shop will be closed from 8-10 on Saturday morning so that we can staff this event. Check out the categories and try to figure out where you'll have the least competition...let the creativity flow! And finally! You know we've got very cool event shirts this year, so don't leave until we've announced all the winners and taken our annual photo! See you Saturday!
