Buckhead Christian Ministry
Buckhead Christian Ministry (BCM) works to mobilize the community to prevent hunger and homelessness in Atlanta. BCM programs are designed to address the unique needs of the working-poor and focus specifically on preventing hunger and homelessness. Services range from giving food and clothing to providing budgeting training to helping homeless families start again. All BCM services are delivered by community volunteers who receive support from a professional staff.
Buckhead THRIFTique is a boutique style thrift store that provides free clothing to BCM clients who are in great need, affordable clothing to the community and opportunities to serve the Atlanta community. All profits go to support BCM programs. THRIFTique has recently moved to a new location at 800 Miami Circle, Suite 160.
Donations of clothing and small household items are welcomed and may be dropped off during normal business hours, Monday through Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. All contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Volunteers are needed to sort and price clothing, operate the cash register, create window displays and help customers select clothes. The store is staffed by volunteers, so please consider joining the team! For additional information, please visit the website, www.buckheadchristianministry.org. |

Fall Adult Education Seminar:
This I Believe
"This I Believe is a national media project that invites Americans from all walks of life to share brief essays on the core values that guide their lives. The project is based on a popular 1950's radio series of the same name hosted by Edward R. Murrow. The goal of This I Believe is not to persuade Americans to agree on the same beliefs; the goal is to encourage Americans to begin the much more difficult task of developing respect for and a deeper understanding of beliefs different from their own." What greater challenge do we as Americans and citizens of the world have in 2010?
The Adult Education Committee of Northside Drive invites you to a two-evening seminar, Wednesday nights, October 27 and November 3 from 6-8 PM, hosted by Cathy Wooten. We will listen to essays by famous Americans like Helen Keller and Eleanor Franklin and discuss them. Then we will tackle the challenging task of writing statements of our own core values. You may choose to share your statement or just listen to others and ask questions; it's up to you. We believe that we can all grow through the exercise of thinking through and putting our values down on paper. As some decide to share their personal statements and we all reflect on them, we will come to know and understand ourselves and each other better.
A light, simple supper ($5 per person) will be served from 6-6:30 PM followed by a meeting and workshop from 6:30-8 PM. Childcare will be provided. We need you to make a reservation for dinner by calling or emailing the church office. Come discover what guides your life and that of your fellow church members: This I Believe, coming this fall to NDBC. |
