IMPORTANT: Youth Waivers for 2010
All youth and families must have completed a 2010 NDBC Youth Waiver form to participate in events for the 2010 calendar year, including the upcoming SNL! Event. Please make sure you complete this form and bring it Sunday. We MUST have a form on file for each youth and volunteer for safety, legal, and other practical reasons. ______________________________ Youth Ski Retreat
Remember to let me know ASAP (by this Friday) if you will attend the youth ski retreat this year. The retreat will be February 5-7, 2010. Please see the attached sheet for more information on the youth ski retreat. Deposits for the ski retreat should be turned in no later than Sunday, January 31. ______________________________ Iona Pilgrimage
If you are going on the Iona pilgrimage, please remember to promptly make your payments. If you are using the payment schedule, you should have $550 paid at this point. If you have not paid up your account, please contact Carolyn Scott, NDBC Business Manager, to arrange payment as soon as possible. We have advanced costs we have to pay before the trip and delayed payments often times lead to higher costs for the entire group. Thank you for your attention and cooperation.

SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY 2010
Happy New Year! Hope that everyone is ready to celebrate Souper Bowl Sunday on January 31 (one week early) in the Fellowship Hall after church. Everyone is welcome to come down and join us for a wonderful selection of soups/chili and make a donation to the Hunger Fund for 2010. These monies are used to help support the Atlanta Community Food Bank as well as send aid to hungry people around the world. Last year we raised a record $1,646 with over 140 people participating! How do we do it? Well, your chef skills are needed! To volunteer to cook a pot of chili or soup, contact Melissa Bryson at melissabryson@att.net or 404-816-7221. If you'd rather bring 3 dozen brownies or cookies, contact Linda Clark at 404-237-2326. Rather set up/clean up? Contact Susan Dew at 404-252-5715 or susandew@bellsouth.net.
It's a fun time together and the monies raised go to help those really in need. Can we count on you to help? |

NEW PASTORAL INTERN
TIFFANY GIBSON COX
Tiffany is a first year student at McAfee School of Theology, pursuing a Master of Divinity degree. She graduated from Furman University in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in both Religion and Music. While at Furman, Tiffany was involved in the chaplain's Exploration of Vocational Ministry program. Through EVM she interned at First Baptist Church Greenville as intern of Pastoral Care, in the Furman chapel, and at Greenville Area Interfaith Hospitality Network-working with homeless families in the area. Tiffany is originally from Maryville, Tennessee. (Ask her how to say Maryville correctly). She is married to Taylor Cox, who is a motion and graphic designer. Tiffany loves learning and discussing theology and ethics. She has played viola, along with several other instruments, since she was 10, and always wishes she had more time for music. She is also an aspiring chef and her devoted husband calls her cooking "incredible!" Tiffany's phone extension at the church is #105 and her email is tiffany@northsidedrive.org. |

CHRISTMAS MISSION GIVING
Thank you for your generous support of the 2009 Christmas giving opportunities. Your gifts and donations touched people of all ages during the holiday season. The generosity of Northside Drivers brought joy, hope, and love through: * Over 20 bags of clothing and toiletries were delivered to the Atlanta Union Mission (where Carpenter House men are now living); * Over 20 gift bags and miscellaneous items were delivered to The Extension's Barbara J. Crafton Center, a 20 bed women's center for homeless, addicted women in Marietta; * Fulfilling the wish lists of four children residing at Morningstar, a treatment center serving children who are both mentally and emotionally challenged (a few extra gifts were also given for other children) * Donations to Joyous Toys at Buckhead Christian Ministries meant parents had at least two gifts for their children this Christmas. Thank you for your continued support of these very important ministries. The Missions Committee

COMMITTEE SIGN-UPS TO BEGIN!
By Kay Braswell, Chair
The Nominating Committee is beginning to start work for the 2010-2011 church year. The following committees will be represented on the Nominating Committee: Diaconate, Adult Education, Children's, Marketing, Staff selection, Youth and Worship/Music. Please be thinking about what committees you would like to share your talents with for the upcoming church year (starts August 2010). Everyone is invited and encouraged to be part of a group where they can make a difference in the activities of NDBC. More information to follow, for now, be thinking; the sky is the limit. |
WHEN SEVERE WEATHER COMES
ON SUNDAY MORNING
As a rule of thumb, we will not cancel worship services on Sunday morning except under the most extreme weather conditions. Members are urged to use their own good judgment as to whether they should attempt to make the trip. Should inclement winter weather cause the cancellation of a service, here is the plan: 1) The pastor and the moderator will make the decision. 2) The moderator will notify the Chair of the Diaconate. 3) The deacons will use the "phone tree" to notify the congregation. 4) One of the ministers will send an email to all those on the church's email list (electricity permitting) and place a notification on the church's voice mail. 5) One of the ministers will notify the media.
