Laura Wheeler is a second year ministerial student at McAfee School of Theology and the current NDBC Seminary Intern. Her internship has allowed her to practice the many skills for ministry such as preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and worship leadership through the guidance and mentoring of the NDBC staff. Laura's participation in the life of NDBC and her carrying out the roles of leadership have given her the needed resources and affirmation to pursue congregational ministry as a profession. Laura is a native of Raleigh, NC and a graduate of North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Business Management, concentrating in Finance and Human Resources. |

PRAYING FOR OUR YOUTH MINISTER, ERIC CAIN, ON PILGRIMAGE
Eric Cain I have spent my entire life traveling through the pages of the Bible-thumbing from the calling into Creation in Genesis to the mysteries of John's Revelation. I always wondered how it must have felt living in the "Holy Lands." It seemed like the only place outside of my small town as a child-the place where God spoke to Moses and where Jesus walked on water. This semester, I received a rare opportunity to finally visit this sacred spiritual center. Thanks to a grant with the Middle East Travel Seminar, I will be traveling with a few other seminary students, some lay leaders, and a few professors to Egypt, Greece, Israel, Jordan, and Syria over the next few weeks. I would appreciate prayer as I experience this three-week spiritual pilgrimage-that it may help nourish my soul and enrich my life as a disciple and minister. And I would appreciate those prayers for safe travel for my colleagues and me as we travel to places that represent holy peace, but often face struggles with violence. Pray, too, that we all grow as people of God. Know that I will be praying for y'all on the other side of the sea . . . Eric's Middle East Travel Seminar 2009 Itinerary

WORSHIP
IN THE CHAPEL
THIS SUMMER
June 7-August 9, we will meet in the Chapel for Sunday Morning Worship. August 16 will be our first Sunday back in the Sanctuary. The Chapel affords both intimacy and memory. Recalling our beginnings as "the church on the hill," we shall be nourished by our history and encouraged in our hope. In addition, by worshiping in the Chapel during the summer, we lower our utility expenses; plus, as an expression of stewardship, we want to be environmentally responsible. Remember the Chapel is now fully accessible to all and the accessible restroom is just down the hall. |
THE PAPERLESS PINNACLE
The Pinnacle is emailed as an attachment to the congregation and is available on the church website www.northsidedrive.org.
If you would prefer not to receive the Pinnacle by U.S. mail, please call 404-237-8621 or email us at info@northsidedrive.org to let us know. |
