NORTHSIDE NOTES
January 21, 2009
THANKS FROM YOUR FINANCE COMMITTEE

The NDBC 2008 fiscal year has drawn to a close and, quite remarkably, our congregation stepped forward in the face of great financial hardship and met its pledge obligations.  Our membership contributed approximately 99% of the funds which had been pledged for the year.  We on the Finance Committee are at once grateful, humbled, and proud of the way our congregation fulfilled its pledge commitments.

Our 2009 budget remains a work in progress.  Understandably, many folk needed to reduce their pledges for the coming year, and other pledges were lost to attrition.  We currently have pledges equaling 83.5% of our proposed 2009 budget.  This shortfall has led us to seek to propose a modified and reduced budget.  That re-evaluation is underway and we hope to present a new budget to you at the February Church in Conference.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE REQUESTS
CHANGE IN BY-LAWS

The 2008 Nominating Committee proposed to the Church Council on July 14, 2008, that the Church By-laws be revised in the referenced section as indicated by the words in bold type, and the Church Council voted to approve this change.  The Nominating Committee now proposes this change to the By-laws be considered at the Church-in-conference on February 18, 2009.
