HOMES FOR TEACHERS!

A huge need in Tanzania is to find teachers that are willing to teach in the rural areas.  Most young teachers are looking for a teaching position that fulfills their desire to teach and provides a little night life.  One of FFCC's strategies to draw teachers out to the bush country of Nkungi Village is to provide them with free housing.  Teachers aren't paid much, so any kind of savings, like housing, can make a big difference in a teacher's decision on where to teach.  FFCC knows that if we can draw the teachers to the village, they will fall in love with the students and the families in the village and provide the much-needed education for these students.  So, over the last four years, FFCC has built homes to attract the best teachers in Tanzania.  FFCC has completed two homes for the elementary school and three homes for the middle/high school.  In each home there is an average of five to six teachers per home.

When we started working in the village, the teacher to student ratio was one teacher for every 75 students.  Now it is one teacher to every 40 students!  Your donation to FFCC is what has provided these homes and a future to thousands of students through education.  Our hope is to build three more homes, so if you would like to donate towards our Teacher Housing Program, please designate that on your donation, and then travel with us to help complete the construction project.
