WORKING TOGETHER TO FIGHT HUNGER!

CAN YOU HELP?

Kids Around the World is a non-profit organization based in Chicago. Like us, they have been working to fight hunger in many areas around the world. Recently, Kids Around the World graciously made a shipping container full of food (300,000 meals) available to FFCC for shipment to Tanzania. The only thing FFCC has to cover is the shipping cost for the food. These meals will be a tremendous gift for the families in Tanzania where we serve.

The needed funds to cover the shipping cost is $5,000. Would you help us get the word out to anyone who might be interested in helping? Donations towards the shipping fees can be made directly to FFCC. Please write 'Tanz Shipping Cost' in the memo section of the check (mailing address below) or in the note section of the Paypal form (www.ffccsd.org).

Thank you Kids Around the World for this generous gift!

OUR FFCC COMMUNITY IS MAKING
AN IMPACT IN HAITI!

Early Saturday morning on August 25th, Hurricane Isaac slammed into Haiti bringing winds over 80 miles per hour, heavy rains, and massive flooding throughout the island. Crops and livestock were completely washed away. Homes, tents and wooden shanties were completely destroyed.

Immediately following the hurricane, FFCC received an email from the Minister of Health requesting FFCC to return and provide as much emergency support as possible. FFCC sent the word out to our community and were able carry blankets, flashlights, medical supplies, packaged Fight Against Hunger meals, water filters, shoes and hygiene items. At first the people of Haiti were so surprised to see us because we had just returned from our 11th trip on August 18th and were already back on the 29th.

Their surprise quickly turned to great joy and gratitude when they saw all the supplies we were able to carry. There were 8 Haitian students from FFCC's Academy program that volunteered their time with the FFCC team and together made a huge impact in the city of Gressier and the tent city of Aviation. There were a number of projects that required immediate attention like rebuilding roofs, digging drainage ditches, installing water filters, electrical and plumbing repairs, clearing of dirt and debris and the distribution of Fight Against Hunger meals to families who lost their food supply.

Thank you FFCC for your financial donations and supplies. The people of Haiti are so grateful for the help and support from the people of San Diego County. Great job FFCC team!
